The field of 90 Candidates reflects significant interest in serving the City of Richmond. With such a large number of Candidates, hosting an “All Candidates” event to provide voters with information on every Candidate presents considerable logistical challenges. In past federal, provincial, and municipal elections, the Richmond Sentinel has filmed interviews with every Candidate who accepted our invitation. These interviews have been published digitally on its website and in print. We are currently working through the logistics of how best to provide Candidates with a fair and consistent opportunity for coverage while giving useful information to make an informed decision on election day.
The City of Richmond has published Candidate profiles and election information on it’s website richmond.ca/city-hall/elections/candidateslist.htm. - and in this publication the City has provided an information notice containing voting information along with the Richmond Elections Office telephone number, 604-276-4100. (Please note Candidates are responsible for the content and accuracy of their submitted profiles).
In the Richmond Sentinel’s next issue (October 6), we will publish a brief bio of each candidate running for Mayor, Councillor, and School Trustee.
Municipal elections determine who will make important decisions affecting the City’s services, finances, infrastructure, and the community. We encourage Richmond voters to learn about the Candidates, review their positions, and participate in the October 17th election.
